“Scientific and measured approaches are essential to the prevention and mitigation of fires in both built environment such as the Megapolitan of Jakarta and natural environment such as forestry area. Fires are an important part of the earth ecosystem, it is human roles to adapt to it as both modern and earth-friendly communities.”

Biography

Muhammad Agung Santoso was awarded bachelor and master degrees from Universitas Indonesia, in 2013, with research on the smoke propagation from fires in the underground station, through experimental and numerical approaches. In 2021, he obtained a Ph.D. from Imperial College London, UK, with research focused on the investigation of smouldering wildfire mitigation, and transition from smouldering to flaming combustion. His research interests are fire science and safety engineerig, the mechanism of peat fires propagation and its mitigation, combustion of condensed-phase fuel, and transition from smouldering to flaming combustion.

He was on a research team at Imperial College London. He studied various topics of the science and engineering of fire safety, through experimental and numerical approaches, such as the mitigation of smouldering peat fires by means of optimal concentration of water and environmentally-friendly surfactant, the mechanism of transition from smouldering to flaming combustion, the suppression of battery fires, and the mechanism of facade fires propagation.
