Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Idrus Alhamid was Born in Surabaya on May 12, 1954. His teaching career began in 1980. Now, he is still actively teaching the subject: of Drying Technology, Capita Selecta, and Engineering Refrigeration.

Several scientific publications he produced are the Effect of Heat Treatment at various temperatures on the structures of Mordenite and Clinoptilolite Natural Zeolites from Indonesia. And its comparison with experimental data, Activated Carbon from Coal as Adsorbent Using Physical Activation & Chemical Activation Method, Application of Onion Drying System in Modular Air Dryer, Machine, Characteristics of Activated Carbon as Adsorbent from East Kalimantan Coal, Preliminary Design and Manufacturing of Mini Ice Plant for Small Fisherman in Remote Area, and others. He was awarded with Satyalancana Karya Satya XX in 2006.

He is married to Faridah Aljufri and has four children, Abdullah, Abdul Kadir, Firdaus, and Abdurrahman.
