Considering that car manufacturers are launching their newest cars almost every year, people prefer to buy used cars over new cars. Cars for personal needs are the highest sales, compared to cars for commercial purposes.This happens because people now tend to look for luxury cars at low prices, aiming to be used as a family car. An example is the Toyota Alphard which is now sold at Rp 1 billion, while the used version is only around Rp 200 million.The high demand for used cars is certainly accompanied by the needs of institutions that can check the condition of the vehicle. Because sometimes, what the seller describes does not match the state of available used cars.
Universitas Indonesia through P2M Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia, has a number of project and study programs that indeed aim to help prospective buyers of used cars in order to find out the actual performance of the car to be purchased.
The activities of the P2M are more laboratory testing. Accompanied by expert teachers, which makes it have the best results without interference from other parties. This Laboratory Testing includes:
