The biomedical research applications are expected to multiply their use later promoted by state-appointed doctors, whose impacts can be felt by the wider community going forward.
This research group focuses on the manufacturing process for micro products using applications employed in biomedical engineering fields.
Biomedical Engineering applies engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology for healthcare purposes, including solutions to medical and health problems. It aims to improve the quality of human health through technology applications resulting from research and the production of appropriate or sophisticated health-supporting tools and devices ranging from equipment, medical diagnostic systems, therapies, prostheses to medical information systems and health management systems.
A study is being conducted on microfabrication, namely the development of 3D scaffolds in tissue engineering printed with a bioprinter that will then be “implanted” into the spine.
In addition, bioreactor technology is being developed to ensure the cells planted in 3D scaffolds can properly develop when implanted into a human body.
In general, those studies aim to advance research in the health sector, considering that any products required in the health sector must be in tune with the foundation of an engineering application. With more imported products from foreign countries, this study aimed to produce various derivative products that could compete with those imported products. At the same time, it promoted multi-disciplinary research among departments at Universitas Indonesia. Indonesia itself has a long history and has made a lot of advanced innovations in the health sector.
The biomedical research applications are expected to multiply their use later by the state-appointed medical doctors whose impacts can be felt by the wider community going forward. In terms of their commercial side, they are expected to meet the quality required by the industry, s they will have good commercial competitiveness and achieve such an economical consumption value for their users. Studies will continue to be conducted for the country to achieve optimal excellence considering that Indonesia is currently lagging behind its neighboring countries.
