Profile

STRANGULATION TECHNOLOGY

A fast-growing industry involves technology to achieve high productivity, quality, and environmentally friendly efficiency standards for the outcome. The technology applied in the utilization of a liquid strangulation process in two kinds of compression refrigeration systems.

Drying Technology

Indonesia’s fertile land produces plenty of mining, agricultural, husbandry, fishery, and marine products. The drying process is required to increase the added value of these commodities. Utilization of a compression refrigeration system with 2 condensers as a dehumidifier and preheater has been developed to produce such hot and dry air as a drying media. This tool has been applied to spray drying for various heat-sensitive materials such as vitamins C, A, and B1. Moreover, it has proven to make good results, lower vitamin damage, and lower energy consumption. However, it increases productivity. This tool will be tested on several types of dryers in the future.

Droplet

The droplet drying process in spray drying involves water evaporation from the droplet so that the droplet from the sprayed material dries into a powder. The droplet evaporation rate needs to be investigated to be able to design and simulate spray drying chambers. This study also involves research into the droplet evaporation rate. In addition to spray dryers, this droplet evaporation rate will be helpful for various other processes.

Aquadest Production

The condenser heat from the steam turbine system is disposed of in a way that might harm the environment. This research produced aqua distillata (distilled water) when the condenser output water was strangled and flowed into a vacuum cyclone separator to separate the steam from the water. The vapors that it produced were condensed in a cooling machine to produce distilled water. The cold water was then mixed with the cooling water from the water treatment to lower the temperature of the cooling water and condenser water and make it environmentally friendly. Moreover, the steam expansion in a steam turbine could reach a lower pressure, so the steam turbine power would increase and the specific energy consumption of the distilled water would decrease.
